Integers

Integers are any whole #. To solve a problem you must look at the sign because each sign has different rules.
If the sign is + then you just add the two #s and keep the same sign. (For example -3 + -4=-7)If the signs are different then you subtract the two #s and keep the sign of the bigger #. (For example -2 + 7=5)
If the sign is - then you must change the - to a + and put the opposite sign in front of the second #. Then use the addation rules. (For example -5 - -7 chage to -5 + 7=2)
If the sign is x then you multiply the two #s and if the two #s have the same sign then you would multiply the two #s and there would be no negitive sign. (For example -6 x -5=-30) Or if the signs are different then there will be a negitive sign in front of your answer after you multiply. (For example 4 x -6=-24)Also if there are a even # of x signs then there will be no negitive sign and if there is an uneven amount of x sign then there will be a negitive sign.
If the sign is / then you can use the same rules as when you multiply.
Now you can do any problem with integers!

Algibredic Expresions

First to solve your problem you need to ask yourself what is happening to the variable.
For example x-7=56.

Second you do the inverse operation (opposite) to each side of the problem.
x-7=56
+7 +7

Last you re-write the variable
x=63

Now here are the steps to check your answer:
1.Re-write ex. x-7=56
2.Plug in your answer ex. 63-7=56
3.Simplify ex. 56=56
4.Variable exquals answer ex. x=63

Factors and GCF

First you need to know what factors and the GCF are. Factors are numbers that divide into a lager number evenly and the GCF (greatest common factor) is the biggetst number that fits into all the numbers you are working with evenly when you divide them. For example if you had numbers like 2, 10, and 18 you could say that 10 is the GCF, but 10 doesn't fit into 18 evenly. One way to do this is to list all the factors of the biggest number which now is 18. You would have 1, 2, 3, 6, 18 as your list. Now you see which number fits into all the numbers evenly. So the answer is 2.

Exponents and Scientific Notations

Exponents are pretty easy if you know how to multiply. It's just a shorter way to write something like 2 x 2 x 2 x 2. First you do 2 x 2 which is 4. Then you do 4 x 2 which is 8. Last you do 8 x 2 which is 16. Now you've used all the 2s. So your base, the number being multiplied 4 times and the larger number, will be 2. Your exponent, the number of which you multiply the base by and the smaller number, will be 4 because that's how many times you multiply 2 by. In real life this can be used in many applications like scientific notations. Scientific notations are an easier way to write a number with alot of 0's. For example 529,000 would be writen like 5.29 x 10 to the 5th power because the decimal moves over 5 times. I hope you understand exponents better now.
