Exponents and Scientific Notations

Exponents are pretty easy if you know how to multiply. It's just a shorter way to write something like 2 x 2 x 2 x 2. First you do 2 x 2 which is 4. Then you do 4 x 2 which is 8. Last you do 8 x 2 which is 16. Now you've used all the 2s. So your base, the number being multiplied 4 times and the larger number, will be 2. Your exponent, the number of which you multiply the base by and the smaller number, will be 4 because that's how many times you multiply 2 by. In real life this can be used in many applications like scientific notations. Scientific notations are an easier way to write a number with alot of 0's. For example 529,000 would be writen like 5.29 x 10 to the 5th power because the decimal moves over 5 times. I hope you understand exponents better now.
